What is the basic
architecture of PCIS application?
The PCIS application is designed using Smart Client Architecture. Here the client will have to install
the PCIS Application while the data repository (database) will be
at a remote place. The client will require internet connection to
communicate with the database.

Will this “essential requirement” of hi-speed
internet connection boost the running-cost of this application?
No, as we can see the internet connection cost is not very high,
while the cost it saves are like;
• hardware cost of database server
• backup devices cost (tape drive with backup-tapes or CD
writer with backup-CDs),
• a complete license of Database Server
• maintenance-cost database server, like hiring or renting
services of a professional database administrator etc.

What is Smart Client?
This technology is introduced by Microsoft Corporation recently.
Smart clients are the embodiment of the next generation of client
software: Built to take advantage of new XML technologies, smart
client software delivers the best of both worlds,
• combining the reach of the Internet with the power of local
computing hardware,
• taking full advantage of end user devices,
• consuming web services,
• supporting a rich user-experience,
• ease of deployment that is typically associated with web
based applications.

Is my data safe while traveling from my desktop to the
database server?
While using PCIS, as the data is pushed-out from any client towards
database, it first gets Encrypted with a very secure encryption
algorithm and then it comes out of machine. In the same way while
a data is requested from database server, it first get encrypted
at the database server and then travels towards the client. Therefore
while your data travels on wire, its totally safe and secure.

provide incentives like faster payment for processing insurance

to be processed electronically, and it is unlikely that universal
